A young basketball player's battle with leukaemia

While many celebrated the New Year with tremendous fervour and happiness around

for 23-year-old Thejangulie Mekro, it signalled the beginning of an uncertain path because

he was given the diagnosis of acute myeloid leukaemia on January

1 of this year. The news reached a star basketball

player from Nagaland who was enrolled in Visual

Communication at Chennai's Sathyabama Institute of

Science and Technology on a full sports scholarship at the time.

Mekro learned the news while he was by himself in the hospital.

Five people were imprisoned in Hong Kong for "brainwashing" kids with "seditious" books.
