Mable John, pioneering Motown female singer, dies at 91

Mable John, a soul and blues singer died Aug. 25 at her home in Los Angeles.

She was 91 years old.

She became one of the first female recording artists

signed to the Detroit label that became Motown.

She,also,later served as the lead singer in

Ray Charles’s background vocal group the Raelettes.

Ms. John was reportedly married four times and had children.
